Set against the backdrop of the 1986 Challenger disaster, author Jane Anderson interweaves fact and fiction and past and present to explore the stories and dreams of the people surrounding the tragedy—before the shuttle “slipped the surly bonds of earth” to “touch the face of God.” Through poetic dialogue and shifting timelines, it reveals how personal and collective experiences of tragedy shape resilience, memory and hope.
