Members of the Northwestern College community are invited to explore different styles of painting that were developed by the Black diaspora. This workshop will be led by Irene Lopez Valdivia, an artist from South Sioux City, Nebraska, and will focus on Faith Ringgold, a multimedia artist who created narrative quilts, paintings, sculptures, and children's books—including "Tar Beach," which was a Caldecott Honor Book for 1992.

After sharing information about Ringgold, Valdivia will lead the group in creating individual paintings inspired by Ringgold.

The workshop is free, but registration is required. For more information, contact the Bridge Center at 712-707-7215.
