Dr. Chet De Jong has served as the medical director for Northwestern's physician assistant program since 2023. Prior to his role as medical director, De Jong taught as an adjunct faculty for the program.

De Jong earned his bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and his M.D. from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. He is a board-certified family practitioner and currently works as a family practice physician with Sanford Health Rock Rapids when he is not on Northwestern's campus. De Jong has also previously served as Lyon County coroner, Lyon County ambulance director, Lyon Specialty Care medical director and Good Samaritan Society medical director.
