You’ll explore how businesses, governments and organizations make decisions about their employees, the goods they produce, and the services they provide. You’ll also brainstorm efficient solutions to problems and aim to improve upon systems that affect human welfare.

Why NWC?

Our economics major has a faith-focused, liberal arts approach that will help develop your research, writing and critical thinking skills. In addition to learning basic economic principles, you’ll study the function of money, discuss government involvement in issues such as energy and employment, and unpack managerial decisions influenced by consumer demand.

Major course topics include principles of micro and macroeconomics, business data analysis, money and banking, and game theory. Related minors include accounting, business administration, economics, entrepreneurship, leadership studies, nonprofit management and project management. A secondary teaching endorsement in economics is also available.

Outcomes

Economics is one of the United States’ fastest growing fields, with an expected growth of 13% over the next 10 years. Economists receive a median annual wage of just under $110,000, giving them a high earning trajectory across public and private sectors, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
