We offer international students a world-class education in the heart of the U.S.A. Northwestern College is a Christian liberal arts, university-level institution in the Midwestern United States. Faculty and students integrate academic study, community and service for a high-quality education that develops students’ intellect and character.
Liberal arts
In the liberal arts tradition of universities like Harvard, Yale and Princeton, Northwestern College believes that successful students are those who learn to think about the connections between their field of study and other disciplines. So in addition to your major classes, you will also take classes in art, history, psychology and other fields as you work toward your degree.
Learning in community
The best learning happens together, in relationship with other students, faculty and staff. At Northwestern, your education will take place not just in the classroom, but during late-night conversations in the dorm, while meeting with a professor for lunch, and through the fun of social events sponsored by the Student Activities Council.
Character-building
You don't need to be a Christian to attend Northwestern. We welcome students from all religious backgrounds. As a Christian college, however, we seek to integrate discussions of beliefs, ethics and values with learning in and outside of class.
Small-town living
Northwestern College is located in a welcoming community of 6,000 people in the northwest corner of the state of Iowa. Orange City has been ranked as the safest college in Iowa. It's also ranked 5th among the nation's top-10 Christian college towns and one of the 100 Best Small Towns in the U.S.A.
