Theatre Production Scholarship
- Available to students who are—or plan to be—involved in theatre productions at NWC (a major in theatre is not required)
- Awarded to students with experience in one or more areas of theatre, including:
- Acting
- Playwriting
- Scenery
- Lighting
- Costuming
- Properties
- Directing
- Stage management
- House management
- Awarded based on application, recommendation, and audition or interview
- Renewable with awards evaluated on a yearly basis
Scholarship recipients must:
- Maintain good academic standing and meet the college's eligibility requirements for participation in co-curricular activities
- Be involved at some level in every theatre production
- Register in the course Theatre Production Ensemble
- Complete at least 90 hours of work each semester in some area of theatrical production

- Give the recommendation form link to a person who knows your ability in theatre.
- Schedule your interview by contacting theatre@nwciowa.edu or 712-707-7341. (Although it is strongly recommended to interview in person, you may mail examples of your work, prepare a recorded video, or interview via Zoom.)
- Interview by choosing one of the following options:
- Prepare a performance lasting 30 to 90 seconds. Please feel free to present a monologue from a show you were recently in or a reading from one of our selected monologues.
- Interview based on your technical design or stage management. Bring renderings, photographs or a prompt book.
- Interview based on your playwriting ability. Bring a brief sample of your work.
- If you want to ensure the possibility of a scholarship, please audition by March 15. After that date, you may still audition, but we can't guarantee the availability of a scholarship. The Theatre Production Scholarship is renewable, and awards are evaluated on a yearly basis.

Alumni and friends of Northwestern College have established a number of privately funded scholarships for current students majoring in theatre. The theatre faculty and financial aid office choose recipients who best meet the criteria established by the donors. No applications are required.
