In addition to teaching at Northwestern, Jennifer Plathe serves as the social work supervisor for the Orange City Area Health System. As such, she provides counseling and support for patients and families, coordinates discharge planning, completes biopsychosocial assessments, handles mental healthy committals and nursing home placements, and functions as a liaison between physicians and patients.
Professor Plathe also served as a crisis counselor and victim services advocate for the Family Crisis Center and Iowa Victim Services Call Center in Sioux Center. She is a graduate of Buena Vista University, where she majored in human services, and holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Iowa.
