Theatre students have show-stopping internships

Four theatre majors are honing their stage craft in selective summer internships with professional theatre companies.

Senior Melody Paynter, from Princeton, Fla., is working with the costume crew for the reputable Shakespeare Festival at Illinois State University. She is gaining design experience dying fabric and working as a miliner and jeweler for shows like Macbeth and Henry VIII.

Three other theatre majors, sisters Corinne and Cassie Mings (Ely, Nev.) and Elizabeth Grim (Huxley, Iowa) are working as design apprentices at the world-reknowned Santa Fe Opera. Northwestern students have been chosen for the selective apprenticeships every summer since 2001.
