Choir to tour Iowa
Friday, April 1, 2005
Their concerts at churches and the Boone High School will include a variety of music styles. The first section includes a work for chorus, piano and percussion by Minnesota composer Stephen Paulus.
Section two features multicultural works by the choir and the 28-voice Heritage Singers chamber choir, including a song about Brazilian jungle animals, a Thai children’s train song, and a song comprised entirely of clock sounds.
Dr. Juyeon Kang, a music professor at Northwestern College, will perform a piano solo as part of the concert. The concert will close with spirituals and hymns like “Take My Hand” and “Beautiful Savior.”
Northwestern’s A cappella Choir has performed across North America and abroad in Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland. Music professor Dr. Thomas Holm conducts the 67-member ensemble.
Northwestern College’s music program is internationally known, including being noted as a “quality department at a quality college” by Rugg’s Recommendations on the Colleges. The department offers majors in music, music education and music ministry.
