Northwestern to hold first Day of Giving on April 12

AllNDay logo for 2018Northwestern College will hold its first Day of Giving on Thursday, April 12. Titled AllNDay, the event is designed to encourage alumni and friends of the college to be “all in” with their support of NWC. The goal is for 500 people to give to the Northwestern Fund by the day’s end.

“We want constituents to know that giving is something they can do with any size gift,” says Tara Woodward, director of annual giving. “Giving is not just for major donors.”

The day will include three matching gift challenges for board members, alumni and parents.

Trustee Gary Malenke has pledged to match gifts of any size up to a total of $10,000 if 30 or more current and former board members give during AllNDay. Dan and Tricia Vermeer, whose son is a junior at Northwestern, will match gifts up to a total of $3,000 if 50 or more parents, grandparents and other family members make an AllNDay gift. And members of the college’s National Alumni Board will match gifts up to a total of $24,000 if 300 or more alumni participate in AllNDay.

Another challenge grant comes from Michael Greller, a 2000 Northwestern College graduate and the caddie for PGA golfer Jordan Spieth. Greller will match gifts received between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CDT on April 12 up to a total of $5,000 if 100 gifts are given. In addition, donors who give gifts greater than $50 during those lunch hours will be entered in a drawing for a pole flag signed by Jordan Spieth from his win at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.

Northwestern students, faculty and staff will also be encouraged to contribute by participating in a contest that will award $500 to a department or program with the most donor votes.

AllNDay will conclude at 5 p.m. when trustees, faculty, staff and students—all dressed in Northwestern red—gather on the campus green to have their photo taken while forming a giant “N.” If the goal of 500 donors is achieved by that time, President Greg Christy will take a pie in the face at 5:15.

AllNDay gifts may be made beginning April 9 through the Day of Giving website, allnday.nwciowa.edu. Additional challenges will be posted on that website and shared on Northwestern’s social media accounts.
