NWC seeks intercultural host families
Thursday, August 3, 2017
Northwestern College is seeking host families to provide hospitality and friendship for international students and ethnically under-represented students who come from a distance. Host families typically attend their student’s events, occasionally invite them to join the family for meals or outings, and offer a sense of home.
“This program provides great opportunities to build mutual relationships that foster capacities for global citizenship as we support these students who come from other cultures,” says Dr. Kevin McMahan, Northwestern’s associate dean for intercultural development.
To volunteer or receive more information about the program, contact one of the host family coordinators: Julie Andersen (712-441-1074 or juliekandersen87@gmail.com) for students of color, or Mavis Anema (712-707-5530 or mandmanema@hotmail.com) for international students.
