Bos named GPAC SID of the Year

Matt Bos, Northwestern College's sports information director, has been named the 2015-16 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Sports Information Director of the Year. He will be honored at the 2016 GPAC Football Media Day on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City, Neb.

"Matt does an excellent job promoting our Red Raider athletic programs,” says Northwestern College Athletic Director Earl Woudstra. “I especially appreciate his interest in our individual athletes and his enthusiasm for their success. Matt has made significant improvements in the way Red Raider athletics are promoted. He has increased Northwestern’s promotion online, via social media, and through the use of webcasts, where he serves as the voice of the Red Raiders.”

Bos is currently coordinating the implementation of a new athletic website. He started the Red Raiders' Instagram and Facebook accounts last year and began the Twitter account two years ago.

"Matt has been a tremendous asset to both the GPAC and the NAIA while serving in his role at Northwestern College," says Corey Westra, commissioner of the GPAC. "Not only has he invested many hours promoting the Red Raiders, but he has lent a helping hand for the GPAC and the NAIA at their championship events."

Bos, who has been Northwestern's SID since 2004, has served the NAIA for many years as the onsite media coordinator in Point Lookout, Mo., for the NAIA men’s Div. II national basketball tournament at College of the Ozarks. He also serves as the voice of the NAIA volleyball national championship in Sioux City and provides broadcast coverage for the NAIA Network and ESPN 3 on an annual basis.

A 1995 graduate of Dordt College with a major in physical education and health, Bos earned a master's degree in physical education at the University of South Florida. He taught and coached at Bradenton Christian High School in Florida for seven years, including four years of service as athletic director.

This is the second year of the GPAC Sports Information Director of the Year award. The award is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
