Timothy's Gift choir to perform at Northwestern

Timothy’s Gift, a six-woman a cappella group that performs in prisons and raises awareness about life behind bars, will perform a concert in Christ Chapel on the campus of Northwestern College Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

Advance concert tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students ($5 for NWC students) and are available at the music and theatre offices of Northwestern College as well as at Dove Christian Bookstore and the Orange City Arts Office. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Timothy’s Gift started in 1998 when Nashville businessman Ron Miller met Tim Kane, a prison inmate who has been serving a life sentence since participating in a robbery and double homicide when he was 14. Now Miller and Kane strive to inspire hope among inmates around the country through a variety of efforts, including The Hope Tour, featuring Timothy’s Gift a cappella artists Melissa Greene (formerly a member of Avalon), Anna Register, Abby Lane Hinton, Lauren Wedertz, and Beta and Emily Angarole.

The women have performed at close to 100 maximum security prisons around the U.S. and achieved a national audience last December when they were part of NBC’s holiday special episode sing-off. Timothy’s Gift concerts are a mix of old classics and current hits and a blend of styles, including soul, country, gospel and pop.

The Timothy’s Gift concert is being sponsored by Northwestern College and the Orange City Arts Council as part of their Orange City Arts’ Beyond Onstage series. More information about Timothy’s Gift is available at timothysgift.com.
