Tom Truesdell, visiting instructor in English at Northwestern College, is the author of an article published in the February issue of The Writing Lab Newsletter, a widely read journal in the writing center field.
The article, entitled "Not Choosing Sides: Using Directive and Non-Directive Methodology in a Writing Session," uses an analysis of a writing center session to show how a writing center orthodoxy that allows for both directive and non-directive approaches is beneficial--if not necessary--in helping students become masters of a normal discourse.
