Andrea Carlson Horn Instructor

Andrea Carlson is a private horn instructor from Sioux Falls, S.D. She holds the principal horn position in the Sioux City Symphony and is the tenured fourth horn in the South Dakota Symphony. In addition to her work at Northwestern, Carlson teaches at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and maintains a large private horn studio in Sioux Falls. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Augustana University and has studied horn with Herb Winslow of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Michael Thompson of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Sarah Cyrus, and Nathan Pawelek. She also serves as the mellophone technician with the Lincoln High School Marching Band in Sioux Falls.
