Jay Wielenga became Northwestern’s vice president for advancement in 2009. A member of Northwestern's staff since 1995, he directed the college's alumni office for six years before becoming director of advancement. He has extensive experience in building relationships with donors to secure major gifts, as well as in managing a campaign and supervising staff.

Wielenga helped raise funds for the construction of the DeWitt Theatre Arts Center, DeWitt Learning Commons, DeWitt Family Science Center and Vogel Welcome Center; for the renovation of the Ramaker Center and Zwemer Hall, and for upgrades to De Valois Stadium, including new bleachers, a new press box and resurfacing Korver Field with FieldTurf. A Northwestern graduate, he is also a graduate of the National Planned Giving Institute. Prior to joining Northwestern’s advancement staff, he worked for the University of Sioux Falls as an admissions counselor and then director of financial aid before spending 10 years as a certified medical representative for Syntex Laboratories.

Wielenga is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), has served in leadership roles at First Reformed Church of Orange City, and serves on the MOC-FV Foundation board.
