Continuing Education Credit: 3.0 CEU Hours
The purpose of this training is to provide ethics training for individuals in the helping professions on topics such as caring for those they serve while maintaining healthy boundaries and navigating risk in an ever-changing world. Some of the ethical issues that will be looked at include the ethical use of AI, navigating technology, and ethical approaches to managing a healthy work/life balance.
Who should attend
This training provides continuing education and guidance for individuals working in the human services field, towards the highest ethical standards as defined by the NASW (National Association of Social Work) principals.
Objectives: At the conclusion of this training, participants should be able to:
- Identify ethical considerations associated with integrating AI into your work.
- Apply ethical strategies to incorporate AI into your professional practice.
- Apply ethical standards of care and decision-making framework to their practice.
- Evaluate ethical challenges professionals may face with the use of technology in areas such as telehealth, communicating with clients and storing information.
- Develop a realistic plan for improved health and wellbeing.
Continuing education credit
All attendees will receive a certificate for 3 CEU hours for attending the training.

Donna L. Van Peursem is a licensed independent social worker and certified employee assistance professional in Iowa with many years of clinical experience working with adolescents and adults. She has worked as a Professor of Social Work at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA since 2014. She has conducted and participated in numerous professional presentations on ethics, mental health and substance use. Donna received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
