An active organ recitalist, Professor Wielenga has led workshops for church organists and pianists, as well as piano teachers. She is a member of the American Guild of Organists, National Federation of Music Clubs, and Music Teachers National Association and serves as an adjudicator for festivals and competitions. She received Master of Music degrees in both organ and piano performance,literature and pedagogy from the University of South Dakota and a bachelor's degree in organ performance from Morningside College. A church organist and choir director, Professor Wielenga also operates a private organ and piano studio. She has held positions at Dordt, Morningside and Westmar colleges.
