Laurel Koerner earned a bachelor’s degree in visual art at Dordt before pursuing a master’s degree in theatre from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Fine Arts in acting at CalArts. A former chair of the theatre departments at both Dordt and Tabor College, Koerner served as director, technical director and designer on numerous college productions and earned acting credits in locations such as Los Angeles and Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As a workshop instructor for the American College Theatre Festival and other academic settings, Koerner has presented on topics such as physical storytelling, stage combat and the body in worship. Her research interests include performer wellness and the use of theatre to facilitate peace and reconciliation. Through her private practice, Koerner provides dialect and audition coaching to professional actors and speakers.
