My family
My father is a pastor at First Reformed Church in Orange City, my mother is the office administrator for Northwestern’s Wellness Center, and my younger brother is a business–finance major at NWC. We enjoy traveling together, playing board games and watching the Chicago Cubs.
Favorite place to visit
While I’d love to visit the Netherlands someday, it’s Chicago. I lived there for a semester during college and loved being in the city and all the different opportunities that it offered.
Favorite book
I read Helping Without Hurting in my Mission and Justice class while a student at NWC. That book changed my outlook on how I can better help those in need—whether they are across the world or right in my own neighborhood.
Interesting fact about me
I was the 2019 Orange City Tulip Festival's Tulip Queen. That’s one of my favorite memories, as well as a pivotal point in my own personal growth. I loved the opportunity to represent this community that I love!
Favorite place on campus
The second floor of the DeWitt Learning Commons, Northwestern's library. There are desks in the bay windows, and I loved studying there. You can see our beautiful campus from that vantage point and get some great sunshine!
College search advice
You don't need to have everything figured out right away. Find a college (like Northwestern) that will allow you to grow and develop into who you are called to be. There are great resources in our Compass Center for Career & Calling. Use them to your advantage!
