Dr. Laird Edman, professor emeritus of psychology at Northwestern College, has been invited to serve as a keynote speaker for the first International Psychology Conference hosted by Forman Christian College in Lahore, Pakistan.

Jolene Harris, instructor of anatomy at Northwestern College, has been named the 2024 recipient of the Northwestern Teaching Excellence Award. She was honored during the college’s commencement ceremony on May 11.

Dr. Robert Hubbard, professor of theatre at Northwestern College, has been named the 2024 recipient of the college’s Faculty Excellence in Faith and Learning Award. He was recognized during commencement exercises on May 11.

Isaiah Gritters, a biology-health professions, chemistry, business administration/finance and economics major from Pella, Iowa, received Faculty Honors during Northwestern College’s commencement exercises on May 11.

Northwestern College has received approval from the Higher Learning Commission to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering beginning in the fall of 2024.

For the 12th year, Northwestern College has been named to the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list compiled by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Northwestern was recognized as an adoption advocate and ranked fifth in the education industry for 2024.

Kyle Ochsner, professor of practice in kinesiology and director of athletic performance, and Dr. Jennifer Schon, director of institutional research, are the recipients of Northwestern College’s 2024 Inspirational Service Awards. Ochsner was chosen as the faculty recipient, while Schon received the staff award during the college’s Celebration Banquet on May 6.

Jack MacGregor, a Northwestern College theatre major from Denison, Iowa, placed second nationally for scenic design at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) competition April 21–26.

Ten Northwestern College students will spend a portion of their summer as short-term missionaries through the college’s Summer of Service (SOS) program. They will spend three to nine weeks volunteering with mission partners in Central Asia, Europe, Ghana, Louisiana, Romania and Tanzania.

Young people interested in learning how to paint or in developing their artistic talent are invited to sign up for a summer camp offered by Northwestern College’s art department.
