Touring company

Northwestern’s touring company is called the Drama Ministries Ensemble (DME). Students selected for DME collaborate with the company’s director, Professor Jeff Barker, to script ancient Israelite dramas from the Old Testament or develop original plays that explore contemporary issues like AIDS, terrorism or immigration. The plays are performed on request, as well as during spring break and summer tours across the U.S.

Spring break touring

Students selected as DME company members during the school year perform on request and tour during the college’s 10-day spring break. The company has traveled throughout the Midwest and to both U.S. coasts.

Summer touring

Theatre students and alumni can audition for NWC’s summer theater company, which tours for 6 to 10 weeks in the summer, performing at churches, youth camps and community theatres. Summer touring teams have performed off-Broadway in New York and at the Crystal Cathedral near Los Angeles. The company has also toured overseas, presenting ancient Israelite dramas in Japanese churches and schools.
