If you have a desire to help people, to serve as an advocate for the disadvantaged and to work for economic and social justice, a career as a social worker may be your calling.
Northwestern’s social work program prepares students for entry-level professional positions and for advanced graduate training in social work. It is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, a decided advantage should you decide to pursue a Master of Social Work degree. As a graduate of an accredited program, you won’t have to repeat in graduate school the social work courses you took while earning your bachelor’s degree.
As a social work major at NWC, you’ll receive both the theory and the practical skills you need to be an excellent social worker. Small classes will give you the opportunity for one-on-one attention from professors, while Northwestern’s liberal arts education will help you understand the physical, social, political, economic and personal environments of your future clients.
Most importantly, you’ll learn how to integrate your faith into all areas of your life, including your profession as a social worker. Our goal is to produce graduates with integrity and Christ-like compassion—whose spiritual strength enables them to enter with confidence into the many areas of human need.
