Dave Nonnemacher oversees off-campus experiential learning and initiatives funded by a $2.5 million Lilly Grant. During his career, Nonnemacher has worked at Alternative Challenge Inc., a wilderness program for habitual teen felons; Eagle Village Inc., an experiential learning facility for adjudicated and court-referred youth; The Haft, a re-creational community for drug/alcohol abusers that focuses on simple living and homesteading principles; and Wandering Wheels, an organization that coordinates long-distance bike trips. Inspired by the ministry of For God’s Children International, Nonnemacher has made numerous mission-oriented trips to Eastern Europe. He has also accompanied Northwestern students and student-athletes on service learning trips to the Eastern European countries of Romania and the neighboring Republic of Moldova.
Nonnemacher has a bachelor’s degree from Taylor University in Indiana and an M.S. in experiential education from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He lives on an acreage near Paullina, Iowa, and hosts students, faculty and staff at a prayer cabin on his property. Nonnemacher is also Northwestern’s assistant baseball coach.
