Kinesiology/sports facilities
Bultman Center for Health, Physical Education and Intercollegiate Athletics
Northwestern offers outstanding facilities for kinesiology studies and athletic performance. The Bultman Center for Health, Physical Education and Intercollegiate Athletics, opened in 1995, includes classrooms, a multimedia viewing room, state-of-the-art athletic training facilities, a wrestling/aerobics room, a weight room/fitness center, a 2,200-seat arena for intercollegiate athletics, the campus health clinic, and offices for kinesiology faculty and coaches. In addition, a human performance lab enables students and professors to conduct research and perform assessments of physical fitness and levels of physical ability.
DeWitt Physical Fitness Center
Adjacent to the Bultman Center, the DeWitt Physical Fitness Center includes a second gymnasium with an indoor track and two tennis courts. Four basketball/volleyball courts, four handball/racquetball courts, space for archery or gymnastics, and badminton/pickleball courts are all part of the complex.
DeValois Stadium and Korver Field
Northwestern’s athletic facilities also include the recently renovated DeValois Stadium football and outdoor track complex with a FieldTurf playing surface, an eight-lane polyurethane track, facilities for field events and a fieldhouse. Two soccer fields and intramural/practice fields are also on campus.
Cadaver lab
Kinesiology students have access to a cadaver lab in Van Peursem Hall which provides students interested in the health professions a real human anatomy experience before enrolling in professional programs.
