How to apply for financial aid

  1. Apply for admission to Northwestern College by filling out the online application form. You can also request an application form from the admissions office by e-mailing Mark Bloemendaal, director of admissions, calling 800-747-4757, or writing to the Office of Admissions, Northwestern College, 101 7th St. SW, Orange City, Iowa 51041. You must be accepted for admission before you are eligible for financial aid.

  2. Apply for federal or Iowa funds by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This application may be filed after January 1; our priority deadline for certain kinds of funding is April 1. We recommend preparing the form online at fafsa.ed.gov, but paper versions can be obtained from your guidance counselor’s office. When completing the FAFSA, be sure Northwestern College (Title IV Code 001883) is listed in the school section of the FAFSA. This will allow us electronic access to your information.

  3. A FAFSA must be filed in order to receive federal or state aid. If you choose not to apply for such aid, please indicate this on the institutional application for financial aid you will receive with your admission materials.

  4. Most financial aid programs have limited funding. We ask that you accept or decline each line item on your award notification, then sign, date and return one copy to us as soon as possible.
