Beacon student newspaper
How many journalists got their start writing for the school newspaper? A lot. Don’t just read about editorial ethics, beat systems, evasive sources and press deadlines—do the real deal—until the wee hours of Friday morning with the staff of Northwestern’s Beacon student newspaper. Interview, research, write, ride out the reviews and do it all over again next week. And on top of all that, production nights include pizza! Read NWC’s Beacon online.
Go Communications
Join Go Communications, Northwestern’s student-managed, student-staffed communications team. The team includes several paid positions, enabling students to earn money while they gain résumé-building experience. Go Communications provides advertising and promotion development services to nonprofit organizations like RISE Ministries, an Iowa-based ministry to teens, and Hands Around the World, an Orange City retailer of art and crafts from developing countries. Go Communications’ services to clients are free; the experience for students interested in corporate communications careers is priceless.
NWC-TV
NWC-TV is a community television channel that airs in Orange City and nearby Alton, Iowa. In addition to airing community service spots written and designed by communications students, programming includes chapel, the worship services of area churches, and NWC athletic events.
