Insurance
Students are not covered by Northwestern in case of illness or injury that requires medical attention or hospitalization. The college offers an inexpensive group plan for student health insurance covering accidents and sickness. A student who is not fully covered by a family health care policy is strongly urged to purchase this coverage. Students may enroll at anytime during the year.
Insurance for international students
Students with an address outside the United States are required to take out student insurance unless they can prove insurability while in the U.S. The college offers an inexpensive group plan for international students who need insurance covering accidents and sickness.
The policy is not a blanket policy covering all expenses, but it does provide coverage for minor accidents and illnesses. More information can be found in the insurance brochure (PDF). To enroll in the student health insurance plan, please download, fill out and return the enrollment form (PDF) to Deb Wassink in Northwestern College’s business office.
Northwestern College is not responsible for the property of others. This includes loss or damage to your property located on our premises. Please review your homeowner’s and auto insurance policies to determine if your property is adequately covered in the event of loss or damage. The only exception to this policy is when the college has care, custody or control of the property of others. In those circumstances, you may have a claim under the college’s insurance policy for loss or damage to your property.
Insurance for domestic students
A blanket accident and sickness insurance plan, underwritten by Columbian Life Insurance Company, is available to Northwestern College students and their dependants. This coverage is designed to provide benefits for medical expenses arising from an accident or sickness including those which occur off campus and during interim vacations.
