Pre-mortuary science
Pre-mortuary science prepares students for entrance into a mortuary science program and an eventual career as a mortician. Many mortuary science programs in the U.S. require students to have college credit before entering the program. For example, Iowa mortuary science programs require the completion of two years (60 semester hours) of non-mortuary science courses before entrance into a mortuary science program. Some students elect to earn a B.A. in a field like biology or psychology before entering a mortuary science program.
