Boundary Waters
Sept. 27–Oct. 2, 2008
Cost: $350/person; $50 deposit due Sept. 1
Limited to 7 participants
Join us on the first Alumni Wilderness Trip. Experienced wilderness instructors Kevin ’92 and Jen (Gravatt ’92) Sutton of Coldwater Programs will lead this backcountry trip. Days will be spent paddling the lakes and rivers of northern Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. In the evenings, participants will make camp at established campsites and prepare a meal over the fire together.
The theme of the trip will be the cultivation of faithfulness. Participants will reflect on how one can live according to core commitments in a full and busy life, and they’ll explore the ways in which the wilderness helps answer these questions. In the evenings, there will be time for personal prayer and devotion, as well as time around the campfire for talking and encouraging one another.
Reservations for the trip are already being taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Deposit checks should be made out to "Alumni Office, Atten: Rachel Van Den Broek". Once the trip is full, we will start a waiting list.
Trip Itinerary
Saturday, Sept. 27
We’ll take a break from celebrating Homecoming to meet at the Franken Center from 11 a.m. to noon to discuss travel logistics and check our personal clothing and equipment. Later that night, between 7 and 9 p.m., we’ll meet at the Franken Center again to pack equipment and food. Overnight lodging is on your own.
Sunday, Sept. 28
We’ll leave early in the morning from the Franken Center and travel to Adventurous Christians in northern Minnesota.
Sunday, Sept. 28-Wednesday, Oct. 1
Canoeing and camping.
Wednesday, Oct. 1
Return to Adventurous Christians base camp for clean-up and celebration.
Thursday, Oct. 2
Depart for home with stops in Grand Marais and Duluth, Minnesota. We plan to be in Orange City by 8 p.m. Overnight lodging is on your own.
