Interesting or little-known fact about you: I earned a Naturalist Certificate through AuSable Institute, I once owned a fan-footed gecko and a giant tropical millipede for my high school classroom, I can turn doorknobs and open doors with my toes, I dyed my hair neon orange and green at a Sonshine Christian Music Festival, and I’m a NASCAR fan (go Carl Edwards!).
Favorite thing about Northwestern: Because of our mission to integrate faith and learning, the atmosphere here encourages worship in every aspect of life. Northwestern has not only offered many opportunities to explore what vocation is and what it means to me personally, but it has also been a place where I can access resources and receive spiritual guidance to respond to God’s call. At Northwestern, I have been challenged and encouraged to deeply contemplate God and my spirituality within a closely woven, supportive community of fellow Christians. As I sat in the back of chapel and took part in communion at the start of the school year, I was blessed to be gathered with so many beautiful brothers and sisters in Christ in the presence of our Holy God—and wondered if we just might have been experiencing a bit of heaven on earth.
Favorite place on campus: The campus green, Zwemer meditation room, Bultman Center gym, Proscenium stage, Vanderhill Cottage attic
Given the choice, I’ll always order … Sorry—there’s no way I can choose a favorite restaurant, much less a favorite food!
