Academic advising
All Northwestern students have a faculty adviser to help them identify and develop their educational goals, carry out their academic plans, and make them aware of available resources. Students who’ve declared majors are assigned an adviser in that discipline; others who are still exploring can work with one of several faculty advisers who specialize in guiding undecided students. Advisers monitor students' academic progress and assist them in navigating the course registration process and making choices about academics, co-curricular activities and careers. Some also become close friends and mentors, maintaining relationships with students even after they graduate.
